We used Bob Boykin to do our taxes for several years. We always trusted him and thought he was doing our taxes legitimately. Then we received a notice from the IRS that we were being audited for 3 years of our tax preparation done by him. We immediately called Bob he told us not to worry about it to much and to send him a copy of the paperwork. We signed a power of attorney and felt confident he was dealing with the audit. Every time we got new paperwork he would have us send him a copy he always seemed to be downplaying the seriousness of our situation. Fast forward 16 months we receive an intent to lien. He still seemed unconcerned even with a fast approaching deadline. We ended up hiring a new accountant to deal with our audit. upon reviewing our taxes with the new accountant we discovered Bob had been claiming a lot more deductions on our taxes then we reported to him as well as claiming deductions we weren't even entitled to. Not being well versed in tax laws and deductions we hired Bob to do our taxes. We trusted that he was providing accurate information to the IRS. Now we are facing the possibility that we may have to pay quite a bit of money to the IRS. Needless to say we are unhappy with this situation and are disappointed with the way Bob handled our taxes and our audit. For these reasons as well as the fact that we try to always be honest and feel this was not represented in our tax preparation. We will no longer be using Bob Boykin to do our taxes.
