I have been going to Willard and Associates for six or seven years. Always receive great service. Recently I had an issue with NYS Education Credit, I supplied John with the documentation, signed over power of attorney and he took care of the problem. Heard back from NYS that my tax return was done correctly.

Terrible service, no response after many years of filing our tax return with Jonathon Willard. This year he ignores all e-mails, phone calls and letters. We have no idea if he even filed our taxes and it is May 18, 2016! He has not responded to multiple inquiries and we have tried over and over for a response. UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL and IRRESPONSIBLE!

Mr. Willard has been our tax preparer for a number of years.Previous to this year we were pleased with his work and his demeanor. In November of last year (2015) we received a notice from the NYS Division of Taxation and Finance that our 2012 Income Tax Return had been audited and that we owed over $200 in unpaid taxes. Mr Willard had done that return. The question revolved around the amount entered on line 29. I contacted Mr. Willard's firm, and was told to bring in the letter and the matter would be attended to. This was done. On Jan 14, I provided paper work regarding a rollover IRA that supposedly was mistakenly viewed as a distribution. We were told that he had written a letter but hadn't receive an answer but that the matter would be taken care of. On Feb.24th we met with Mr. Willard to do our 2015 taxes and I don't believe that the matter came up. On April 27th We received from the Tax Dept a Notice And Demand For Payment of Tax Due letter. Payment with penalties.to be paid by May 16th or legal action would ensue. Mr Willard's firm was contacted almost daily with requests that he get back to us. He did not despite assurances that he was given the message. I finally made phone contact with him on May 3th and was told by him that he was busy that morning but the he would take care of it that afternoon and get back to me. He did not. On May 5th I left word on his receptionist's voice mail that I was paying the amount in question and was filing a formal Professional Discipline Complaint Form with the Office of the Professions at the NYS Education Dept. and would be discussing this matter with our attorney. All this was clearly caused by a mistake that Mr. Willard made and yet would not admit to nor seek to remedy it. My concern is that we will be looked upon as "tax cheats" and be subject to future audits and wonder about mistakes made on returns that were done since 2012. I hope that the disclosure of this event will be of benefit to future readers.
