I was referred to Ms. Wiggenhorn for tax preparation by both my mother and sister who have utilized Ms. Wiggenhorn's services for many years. They boast about how professional and proficient she is and my expectations were that I would receive the same professional/proficient service, but to my surprise my experience is not the same.
I called and spoke with Ms. Susan Wiggenhorn about my taxes and subsequently hired her to redo my 2018 Indiana state taxes because I couldn't understand why I owed after receiving a refund. I also hired her to do my 2018 Virginia State taxes. I made a copy of everything (2018 stuff w/copies of my tax papers & the IRS letter), typed a letter to her with my phone number and email address explaining my issue, and mailed everything to her in November 2019. One of her helpers acknowledged receipt of my documents.
Ms. Wiggenhorn called me and told me the entire process will be approx. $250 and she needed a down payment of $99 to which I paid over the phone. I figured I did not get a frequent follow-up from her since it was during the holidays, however, I decided to call her since she had not called me yet around the end of January. On this call Ms. Wiggenhorn stated that she has been trying to call me (I have no missed calls from her nor was my voicemail full). She asked me to confirm my phone number and email again. Ms. Wiggenhorn gave me the status of why she perceived that Indiana IRS required me to pay back+extra the refund I received. She also told me she will get back with me regarding it (Indiana State taxes) and my Virginia state taxes. I called her office on February 21, 2020 at 10:57 a.m. and was told that she was with a customer so I left a message with my name and phone number and the reason for my call. I did not get a return call from Ms. Wiggenhorn. I called her office again on March 3, 2020 at 1:31 p.m. and was told, again, that she is with a customer. This time the helper stated that she is also sending Ms. Wiggenhorn an email because I let the helper know that Ms. Wiggenhorn has had my documents since November and I do not understand what the holdup is. As of today, March 5, 2020, I have not received a return call from Ms. Wiggenhorn yet.
I understand that it is tax season and I don't know how she prioritizes her work, but AGAIN it's been since November; my documents should have been returned to me along with her findings and I should have received a phone call for the balance.
The purpose of this is to express my displeasure with Ms. Wiggenhorn as a tax preparer and to ask for a refund of the $99 deposit that I sent her along with all of the documents I mailed to her office. I have now found someone else to assist me with this and my 2019 taxes.
