I used EDU for tax preparation for approximately 8 years after attending a seminar they conducted. I was very pleased with their service even after i retired and moved to Florida. They assured me they had clients living in Florida and had no problem receiving 1099 documents and other information sent either electronically or via postal services. Florida does not levy a state income tax and i hoped this would further simplify filing since only the Federal forms have to be completed. I received the tax check list in mid January and mailed the documents at the end of February. When i received the postal notification in early March that they got the Information i sent, i called to confirm they had what they required. This was the first of many attempts to reach them via phone only to get a recorded message. This is the final day before the deadline and i still have not heard from them. I am deeply disappointed that i have not heard *anything* about my status with them. I assumed they wished to continue our relationship when i received the checklist in January and am scurrying to get my obligation filed during the extension. I am also quite concerned about the documents i sent and if this presents a security threat. Robert Agnew (706) 289-1877 Update: Apparently, this business has been merged or acquired by a company called Interstate Business Management (www.ibmsb.com). The complaint i have registered should now be attributed to this new company. I have finally received an email from them but have still not been able to resolve my tax filing for 2022. Do NOT use this company for any reason!

Markita Brody

Don't always believe what you read on Yelp.  Sure wish I had done more homework on these people.  If I did, I might not be writing a check for $500 for this fiasco. My husband hired Brody Tax for bookkeeping in September 2022.  We met with Markita Brody on a different matter and she told us about their bookkeeping services. My husband is an owner operator and needs reliable bookkeeping.  So we decided to use Brody, especially after seeing positive reviews.  We left a large amount of receipts and invoices with the front desk assuming they would be handled properly and entered into their accounting software. My husband returned to drop off receipts and invoices for Sept - December in February and discuss tax preparation.  They took the receipts and shortly thereafter we received the tax returns.  They sent a nice little email with returns saying that my husband owed $57,000.  Can you imagine how that made us feel?  I opened the returns and immediately went to the Schedule C to see what they had for deductions.  I'm no accountant but I damn sure know they fkd up huge.  They missed over $70,000 in fuel deductions and more.  I would imagine that an experienced accountant would recognize that a truck driver would have much more than deductions for 3 months but he didn't.  I had to tell him.  Thats when the receipts that were dropped off in September 2022 came into question.  They said the never received them! Wait! What? So, back and forth we go.  They are insisting that I'm mistaking and that nobody in the office remembers me leaving these (6 months prior).  I asked if there was security footage in the building that would prove that we went in with them and left without them. We were in full panic mode!  They kept saying they were looking everywhere and weren't finding them. Eventually, I tried to walk through that day with Heather in the office and remembered that we had brought them in in a shoebox....so the office started looking for a shoebox.  Then my husband remembered they took them from that shoebox and put them in a yellow folder. So I called the office back and told them to look for a yellow folder.  THREE OF THE LONGEST DAYS LATER, we got a call from Heather...they found the receipts.  They were "tucked away" in some woman's desk - apparently known as an "office hoarder". So here we are two months later trying to get our taxes completed and because of the lack of communication on their part, we had to personally file an extension.  We are down to the wire on April 18, 2023 at 4:22PM as of this review.   Oh.....and they are charging $500 for all this.   TAKE YOUR CHANCES WITH TURBO TAX - DO NOT TAKE CHANCES WITH THESE GUYS.

Mary was very forgetful and unorganized. It started with showing up 30 min late for our apt. While she was filing my taxes she lost one of my expense sheets so I had to scramble to get those totals sorted out again. When she packed up to leave and asked if I had any final questions, I said yes, what return did I get back from my working from home expenses? She then told me she forgot to even put them into my taxes and did it last minute. This slip-up would have cost me $800 in returns. Later that night she called me to say she also forgot to input my 4-digit security code which is needed to file. All of this made me feel very uneasy about the quality of work she was doing. Then she sent over one year of my tax returns and it wasn’t until I asked where the year 2022 was that she even noticed she never sent them over to me, again very forgetful. All of these mistakes and not a single apology. A while after my returns were made I found out none of my electronic payments went through. She had no desire to help fund out why, so when I called the IRS and my bank they said the account number she input was only 5 digits long and invalid. I personally handed her a checkbook for the bank I was using to pay my taxes and that was input wrong, causing me to pay late fees. When I reached back out with questions Mary was very unprofessional, and rude. She accused me of wanting her to reimburse me for the late fees and said I don’t know what to tell you. I had no intention on making Mary pay for anything I just reached out for guidance. This whole experience and her level of professionalism were very disappointing and have caused me a lot of stress. I would avoid Mary at Sum It Accounting and Tax Solutions.

Demetrio A. Vargiu, CPA

My wife and I did out taxes with Demetrio Vargiu a year ago and, at first wanted to continue to utilize his services until the below items could no longer be tolerated: 1. My wife had reached out in march to set up an appointment for tax preparation and tax planning. He stated that he did not have time, however, after multiple emails back and forth his wording in the most recent email comes across as rude. My wife and I both work in customer facing professions and if we used his tone we would be reprimanded by our managers and we would lose business with our customers just as he is losing our business now. 2. We did speak over the phone about tax planning and he informed us about the charges and at the time we decide not to move forward. He stated that he would send us a link to submit our information, but we never received the links for submitting our information for tax planning. 3. Most importantly, his building owner's collection needs to be addressed. Not only did the owner have the derogatory Black figurines that Demetrio took down a year ago but there were also offensive Native American items. This needs to change. 4. Finally, when apologizing, one should always apologize to both of the individuals that bring a grievance to your attention. He contacted me but he never contacted my wife to apologize for the offensive Black figurines. When he called me about this I asked for him to contact my wife and apologize to her as well and he never did. This is unacceptable and for my wife it has been a point of frustration. Regardless if he feels this is a small issue or not, having these objects are inappropriate and the way you handled this situation was not ideal. If he would have addressed these items more professionally we would have continued our business, but he did not and we will be going else where with our business.
